On March 11, 2021, the Commodity Classification Standards Board (CCSB) issued Supplement 1 to NMF 100-AU. The National Motor Freight Classification (NMFC) class code changes will go into effect on April 10, 2021.
While a few of the changes are noted below, please review the complete list linked above to be aware of all changes and updates.
- Several Foodstuffs items are being canceled and replaced with new NMFC 73260. They are:
- 72040, Bakery goods other than frozen
- 72042, Bars
- 72270, Brownies, other than frozen
- 73270, Fortune cookies
- 74800, Snack foods
- 72680, Coffee, tea or herbal tea
- New, Foodstuffs, other than frozen: Item 73260 – 11 density-based classes (60 through 400)
- Stairs or Stairways; Ramps or Gangways; Chutes or Slides; Platforms or Stands: Item 178160, currently 2 classes (SU class 300) & KD (class 125) will be changed to 8 classes based on dimension and density
- Glass, flat, bent or not bent: Item 86700, currently 6 classes based on dimension and density will be expanding to 14 classes based on dimension and density
- Glass, silvered for mirrors: Item 86900 will be canceled and replaced with Item 86700
- Sneeze Guards or Food Shields or Guards: item 82285, currently 2 classes (150 and 175) based on dimensions will be expanding to 8 classes based on dimensions and density
- Poisonous or Toxic Materials: Item 45615. Subs/Classes no longer based on Hazard Zone. Classes now based on whether poisonous by inhalation or not poisonous by inhalation or by packing group number
