Important Notice From UPS Freight On October 31, 2018

Beginning on November 1, 2018, UPS Freight temporarily suspended pickups for shipments with a delivery date after November 8, 2018. The following are the last days UPS said they would pick up freight for specific shipping commitments:

  • Thursday, November 1 for five-day shipping commitments
  • Friday, November 2 for four-day shipping commitments
  • Monday, November 5 for three-day shipping commitments
  • Tuesday, November 6 for two-day shipping commitments
  • Wednesday, November 7 for one-day shipping commitments

Shippers Increase Lead Times On Their Shipments In 2018

Shippers in the United States are increasing their lead times by an average of 3 percent in 2018. Shippers cite the driver shortage and continued capacity crunch as some of the top reasons for increasing lead times on their shipments. See more here.

MTB H.R. 4318: A Break For Importers!

On October 13, 2018, 1660 items began to receive the benefit of reduced or eliminated duty through the MTB 2018 and will receive that benefit through December 31, 2020. Approximately 25 percent of those items are subject to the S301 remedy tariffs of 10 percent currently (25 percent beginning in January 2019) if they are imported from China. See more here.

Duty-Free Treatment Removed For Numerous Goods Under GSP Proclamation

According to the latest Presidential Proclamation 9813 from October 30, 2018, a number of goods are being removed from eligibility for Generalized System of Preference duty-free treatment. The proclamation went into effect on November 1, 2018 for all affected items entered for consumption or withdrawn from warehouse for consumption. See more here.
