CBP Still Operating During US Government Shutdown

Please note that US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will continue to ensure ports are staffed amidst the government shutdown. In a recent statement, CBP assured importers and exporters that they will continue to work with additional government agencies to make sure shipments flow smoothly.

Ports Of Los Angeles And Long Beach Actively Working To Provide Congestion Relief

According to the JOC, the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach promise relief for increased dwell times within the first six months of 2019. Dwell times for ports in Southern California increased from 2.5 days in spring 2018 to 3.5 days at the end of 2018. See more here.

Modernized Duty Drawback Final Rule

The final rule to duty drawback regulations were published last week by CBP. These changes were brought on by the Trade Facilitation and Trade Enforcement Act (TFTEA). Some of the changes to the current regulations are the timelines for filing of a claim, record keeping requirements, substitution drawback as well as manual filing of claims will no longer be accepted.
