S301 List 3 Product Exclusions

On August 5, 2019, the USTR (United States Trade Representative) announced that product exclusions have been approved for S301 List 3 duties. The product exclusions are broken into ten new product-specific descriptions such as certain plastic containers, pet cages, shopping carts and inflatable kayaks and boats. All S301 List 3 product exclusions are retroactive to September 24, 2018. The exclusion process began on June 30, 2019 and requests may be filed through September 30, 2019. Executive Order Blocking Property of the Venezuelan Government Signed

On August 5, 2019, the current administration signed an Executive Order blocking property of the Government of Venezuela due to human rights abuses, interference with freedom of expression and ongoing attempts to undermine Interim President Juan Guaido and the Venezuelan National Assembly. The order is in effect until further notice and will affect any international imports or exports in and out of the country. This order will not prohibit humanitarian relief of food, clothing or medicine.. To view the executive order, click here.

CBP User Fees Set to Increase for Fiscal Year 2020

In the August 2, 2019 edition of the Federal Register, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced that the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) user fees will increase by 7.167 percent for Fiscal Year 2020. The increase will go into effect on October 1, 2019. User fees affected include the Minimum Merchandise Processing Fee, increasing to $26.79, and the Maximum Merchandise Processing Fee, increasing to $519.76.
