NMFC Updates Effective April 27, 2019

Supplement 1 from the Commodity Classification Standards Board has been posted. This notice lists various changes to NMFCs and packaging rules that will go into effect on April 27, 2019. See more here.

Diesel Average Rises To $3.093 Per Gallon

According to EIA, the national average price per gallon for diesel fuel increased 1.5 cents to $3.093. The national average is up 5 cents year-over-year for the week of April 1-7, 2019. See more here.


EPA, TSCA And Wood Products Update

The Formaldehyde Standards for Composite Wood Products Act, also known as the TSCA Title VI, was fully implemented as of March 22, 2019 following a nine-year waiting period. From May 22, 2017 through March 22, 2019, products regulated by TSCA Title VI had to be labeled as TSCA Title VI or CARB ATCM Phase II compliant. See more here.

US Imports Could Increase In The Coming Months

Global Port Tracker predicted that import volumes would increase 5.9 percent year-over-year to 1.63 million TEUs in March 2019. April import volumes are expected to increase year-over-year to 1.75 million TEUs. See more here.

Panama Canal Authority (ACP) Imposes New Draft Restrictions

The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) imposed a draft restriction of 47 feet in mid-March. ACP plans to impose a more severe limit on April 11, 2019. See more here.

Walmart Helps Suppliers Reduce Global Carbon Emissions

Walmart recently announced the creation of an emission calculator for the Project Gigaton Emission Reduction program. This calculator could help suppliers reduce global carbon emissions by more than 93 metric tons by 2030. See more here.

According to a report from Marketing Insider, Generation Z sees both online shopping and brick-and-mortar shopping as complimentary.
