ATA Truck Tonnage Index Dips In September 2018

The American Trucking Associations’ advanced seasonally adjusted (SA) For-Hire Truck Tonnage Index decreased from August 2018 to September 2018 by 0.8 percent. At the same time, truck tonnage for Q3 2018 increased by 0.1 percent over Q2 2018 and 5.2 percent year-over-year. See more here.

Canadian Seaports Continue To Experience Dwell Time Delays

According to a recent report, dwell times are increasing in the Canadian seaports of Vancouver, Prince Rupert and Halifax, which are causing delays in timely cargo movement. The following are expected dwell times (waiting time for loading shipments onto railroad cars):

  • Port of Vancouver: 10-15 days
  • Port of Prince Rupert: 5-10 days
  • Port of Halifax: 7 days
