New England Motor Freight Files Voluntary Chapter 11 Petition

New England Motor Freight (NEMF) announced on February 11, 2019 that it voluntarily filed for relief under Chapter 11 of the US Bankruptcy Code. As a result, Ascent Global Logistics has deactivated NEMF from our TMS systems. See more here.

CBP Issues Guidance On S301 Tariff Exclusions

The first list of exclusions for S301 tariffs List 1 was published in December 2018, but they were not implemented into the 2019 Harmonized Tariff until after the government reopened in January 2019 and programming was completed. The new HTS 9903.88.05 should now be paired up with any item that is eligible for exclusion from List 1 S301 tariff. See more here.

Fuel Supply Could Be Inadequate For Ocean Shippers To Comply With Ultra-Low Sulfur Diesel Fuel Regulations

According to an analysis performed by Wood Mackenzie, insufficient low-sulfur diesel fuel is available to replace fuel used by ocean shippers. The shipping industry needs to replace up to 3 million barrels per day of marine fuel; however, the global supply of ultra-low sulfur fuel is projected to increase to 1.7 million barrels per day by 2024.
