National Diesel Average Increases For Eighth Consecutive Week
According to the United States’ Energy Information Administration (EIA), the national average for diesel fuel increased for the eighth consecutive week. Diesel increased by 0.9 cents per gallon to $3.419 per gallon. See more here.

Current Congestion Pricing Model Scheduled To Be Replaced On November 19, 2018
The current congestion pricing model that includes Traffic Mitigation Fees (TMFs) will be replaced by an appointment-based system pending approval from FMC. This system will use a flat fee on both daytime and nighttime container moves. See more here.

The Miscellaneous Trade Bill (MTB) of 2018 went into effect on October 13, 2018 after being signed into law on September 13, 2018. The bill calls for duty suspensions and reductions for certain chemicals and other specified items through December 31, 2020. See more here.
Port Of Los Angeles Moves More Than 800,000 TEUs For Third Consecutive Month
Recently, the Port of Los Angeles reported a third consecutive month of processing more than 800,000 TEUs. The Port of Los Angeles processed 801,264 TEUs in September 2018, which is a 4.9 percent year-over-year increase. See more here.
Walmart Announces New High-Tech Grocery Distribution Center
In the coming weeks, Walmart expects to begin breaking ground on a new high-tech distribution center for fresh and frozen groceries. This new distribution center is expected to move 40 percent more product than a traditional distribution center, which means that suppliers will need to ensure their supply chains can keep up. Some Suppliers Cautious After Sears Files For Bankruptcy
After Sears filed for bankruptcy, some suppliers found that their terms and conditions with Sears were less than favorable. In addition, many suppliers have claimed that Sears has not effectively communicated the terms of the bankruptcy, which has lead some suppliers to reconsider partnering with different retailers.
